A lot of businesses and organisations are beginning to understand the benefits of what consumers would call a social network. These networks are more than just places for socialising , of course. They allow people to share ideas and information by communicating through the channels that work for their purpose, whether that entails an instant chat session, an asynchronous commenting thread, a series of photos, or something else. Bitrix24 (Beta) (free for up to 12 users; plans for larger organisations from $99 per month) is one such business-focused solution, bringing the multifarious communication means that exist on social networks to an office setting.
This online app provides tools for task management, document-sharing, and time-tracking as well as all the communication and collaboration features you'd expect in a social network. The central area of the Bitrix24 app is the Activity Stream, which is precisely what it sounds like it will be, a central feed where updates about all kinds of activity happening on the social network appear, similar to Facebook's News Feed, only Bitrix's feed includes information about workplaces processes and project statuses, too. Each user can customise her Activity Stream to show updates and information that's relevant to her work.
The system also includes messaging (like integrated email, essentially) for private conversations, instant text-chat capabilities for real-time collaboration, contact-management tools, a photo gallery, and calendaring abilities.
A few limitations on the free account are that it doesn't include time-management features, reports, or a meeting and briefings planner.
